How to Build (OK make) Sushi
Background
My wife and I love sushi. A friend of a friend of mine from Japan gave an impromptu class to friends on how to make sushi. We were lucky enough to attend. Between this class and various sushi cookbooks and all of our sushi taste-testing, she has perfected the art to a delicious level.
Salmon roll sushi
- Start by cooking the rice. Use sushi grade rice which is readily available in most supermarkets.
-

- Spoon some rice onto a plate

- Set up a cutting board and lay the bamboo roll on it. Add a piece of Saran wrap for easy clean up.
-

- Cut up cream cheese and cucumber. Cut both lengthwise for easier rolling.
-

- Wet the nori to make it more pliable.
- Place the nori on the bamboo roll.
- Spoon rice on top of the nori.
- Add the cream cheese onto the nori and rice.

- Add cucumber.

- Add salmon. Use cooked or fresh raw salmon to suit your preference, we make rolls with both.

- Roll the sushi starting at one side of the nori. Roll tightly and try to make it as uniform as possible.

- Sharpen the knife

- Wet the knife to prevent the sushi from sticking to it and cut the sushi.

- Substitute crab for salmon and any other incredients that you prefer.
- Serve and enjoy.
